In 1999, Gabriel and his friends discovered the Undernet―a secret architecture to the internet. They charted their exploration on a message board called W0RLDTR33. Then they lost control. Someone broke into W0RLDTR33–someone who welcomed the violent hold the Undernet had on them. At great personal cost, Gabriel and the others thought they sealed the Undernet away for good. They were wrong. And now the whole world will know the meaning of PH34R. Don’t miss the next major horror outing from multiple Eisner Award-winning writer James Tynion IV (THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH, The Nice House on the Lake) and Fernando Blanco (Detective Comics). Collects WORLDTR33 #1 - #5
Yeah! I did not know much about this one at all. All I knew was that it was wunderkind James Tynion IV and that I would give it a try. The story tells of this weird 'undernet', a place that is underneath the internet. A few years ago, a group of college kids stopped it coming through into the real world and causing hell on earth. Now, it is resurfacing and it is telling people to go out and kill.
Now, the groups have reconvened to try to stop it coming to the surface again.
The story is a multi POV story that flits from perspective to perspective.
To be quite frank, I am not sure whether I liked this one or not. It has some interesting bits, but it did not grab me by the throat. However, it is the first in an ongoing series and it has yet to develop as a story, and from the other James Tynion that I have read, it is likely to be a slow burn.
BARBARIC VOL 1 & VOL 2
Michael Moreci (Writer),Nathan Gooden (Artist, Cover Artist), Addison Duke (Colorist), Jim Campbell (Letterer)
VOLUME 1: MURDERABLE OFFENCES
Owen the Barbarian is under a witches' curse to make amends for his murderous past. His bloodthirsty talking Axe is his moral compass. And he'll do whatever it takes to do good, even it if it means cleaving a few skulls. Even if it means helping a witch.
OWEN THE BARBARIAN HAS AN AXE. AND HE'S GONNA DO GOOD WITH IT IF HE HAS TO KILL SOMEONE.
Owen the Barbarian has been cursed to do good with what remains of his
life. His bloodthirsty weapon, Axe, has become his moral compass with a
drinking problem. Together they wander the realm, foredoomed to help any
who seek assistance. But there is one thing Owen hates more than a life
with rules: Witches.
Welcome to the skull-cracking,
blood-splattering, mayhem-loving comic brave enough to ask: How can a
man sworn to do good do so much violence? Hah! F***ing with you. It’s
just…BARBARIC.
VOLUME 2: AXE TO GRIND
As one of Entertainment Weekly ’s “10 Best Comics of 2021,” Barbaric – featuring Owen the Barbarian and his bloodthirsty companion Axe – returns in a whirlwind of blood, humor, and mayhem with an evil demigod, vampires, and rampaging monsters!
Hailed as one of the best comics of 2021 by Entertainment Weekly, Thrillist , Screen Rant , and more, bestselling BARBARIC returns with its second explosive volume!
When a foe from Owen's past returns, he embarks on a bloody mission to succeed where he once failed and kill a malevolent demigod. Which suits Axe just fine, considering he hasn't gotten drunk on god blood yet! Meanwhile, Owen's former barbarian comrade, now a timid vampire, gets cold feet about a life of violence. But in the world of BARBARIC, where orcs, giant spiders, and devil bats roam the land, and doing good is full of gore, is there any other way?
For fans of BRZRKR!, The Witcher, Conan the Barbarian , Red Sonja , Heathen, Rat Queens, and Dungeons and Dragons !
Collects the second three-issue miniseries ( Axe to Grind ) and the special one-shot standalone ( Harvest Blades )!
Published by Vault Comics, this is just a load of fun. Obviously playing on Conan, this is just pure escapist fun. At times it gave me I hate Fairyland vibes, especially due to the fact that Owen is a beer swilling degenerate. However, with the fact that Owen has a talking axe that gets intoxicated on blood, it does set itself apart.
Don't get me wrong, the comic is not a game changer in any way, but sometimes do I actually need something deep and soulful. No! whilst I do like to be moved by brilliance, sometimes I just want to be entertained.

Complete collection of Colder vol. 1-3
Published by Dark Horse Comics, Colder tells the story of Declan, a patient of a psychiatric institution in the 1940's. One night, the insitution is set ablaze and the energy of the troubled inmates opens a portal to a dimension which feeds on madness, called the Hungry World.
From out of the portal steps Nimble Jack, a fae type creature that bestows powers on to Declan.
For years, Declan exists in a catatonic stupor, being moved from one institution to another. Finally, he ends up being cared for by a nurse at one of the institutions, Reece.
I just loved this comic. The art is just wonderfully creepy (I mean just look at that cover!). The creatures in it are just something else, for instance you have hands with slathering dogs heads ripping people apart. It's bizarre and surreal, yet there is a human story behind it.
The characters are all great. Nimble Jack is over the top and just over the line insanity and Swivel with his face made of fingers is UUUUUrgh!
Well recommended!
DARK RIDE
Devil Land has been the world’s premiere horror-themed amusement park for over 50 years, home to the scariest ride ever created – The Devil’s Due. Family owned and operated by the reclusive creator, Arthur Dante, and his two children Samhain and Halloween, Devil Land is seeing some financial stress with low park attendance. Samhain wants Devil Land to expand its brand beyond the park gates, and a rejection from his father in tandem with a request to design a new ride for the park, lead Samhain to uncover the sinister secrets of the park and the role his family, including his sister, has played in a myriad of unsolved deaths and disappearances at the park over the last 50 years.
A horror story set in a theme park!
What's not to like?
Well, actually not much!
This was another one of those comics that was just fun to read. It's a bit popcorn and if you asked me to tell you what the hell happened, my mouth would be going like a goldfish, but I don't care.
A load of fun hokum.
WONDER WOMAN VOL. 1: OUTLAW
Tom King, Daniel Sampere (Artist), Tomeu Morey (Colorist), Clayton Cowles (Letterer)
After a shocking alleged crime, the U.S.
government moves to keep all Amazons out of the country. What will
Wonder Woman discover when she goes on a quest to uncover the truth? And
what new enemies will reveal themselves?
After a mysterious
Amazonian is accused of mass murder, the U.S. Congress passes The Amazon
Safety Act, barring all Amazons from American soil. To carry out its
new law, the government sets up the Amazon Extradition Entity (AXE) task
force to remove those who don’t comply by any means necessary.
In her search for the truth behind the killing, Wonder Woman now finds herself an outlaw in the world she once swore to protect.
To be honest, in all my years reading comics I have not read many Wonder Woman comics. It's not that I didn't like her or anything, I did. I mean I have read comics with Wonder Woman in them and really liked her character. My favourite one is The Witching Hour, which was part of Justice League Dark.
So, I thought I would remedy this and start with some newer stuff. I had heard that the Tom King stuff was brilliant, so I thought why not?
At the moment, I am a bit on the fence. Not about Wonder Woman, I will definitely be reading some more stuff, maybe some Greg Rucka stuff or Gail Simone.
Don't get me wrong, I like Tom King's writing and am currently on with the second volume of the series, but it's not what I expected, and is taking some getting my head round.
However, I do have to say that Daniel Sampere's art is chef's kiss level of brilliancy. Along with Tomey Morey's muted colours. it is some of the best art I have seen for years.

Arrested and imprisoned for murder, alienated from all whom he has ever called ally, Bruce Wayne stands poised to lose his own identity to the specter of his dark knight counterpart - Batman!
What would happen if the line between Bruce Wayne and Batman was shattered?
You're about to find out!
Featuring story and art from some of DC Comics' top talents, Batman: Bruce Wayne - Murderer? collects all relevant segments from the ground-breaking Bruce Wayne: Murderer? event, as well as the startling conclusion from Batman #600.
I am this strange place with this comic. I have read it and am still reading it.
Let me explain! My son got me a TPB of this, which I read. However, there is another version on DC Infinite which not only collects the original story, but also has the continuation event in it; Bruce Wayne, Fugitive.
This is more of an event comic which spans across different comics, such as Nightwing, Robn, Batgirl, Birds of Prey and more.
In light of that, this is a mixed bag of a comic with art and writing changing tone and quality throughout.
Some of it is really good, some of it is...... well, it's ok!
In addition to that, Batman doesn't actually turn up till the end (or half way through if you are reading the extended version) .
I'll let you know how it goes when I completely finish it.
Anyway, in the immortal words of a very famous rabbit, that's all folks.
Hope to see you again next month.
